Our Story

To Raise A Village is a newly formed national non-profit organization led by 6 women dedicated to grassroots leadership of Black, Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) and allied women-leadership in the care industry. To Raise A Village’s mission is to ignite community collaboration through alignment of vision & values that allow all to rise towards a care economy. Our vision is to empower communities through a cross-generational approach to social issues that amplify the authentic realities of people with untapped influential power.

We build national relationships around shared analysis and desired outcomes that disrupts “inside” conversations on care with bold, alternative “outside” strategies. We affirm this as the pathway towards shaping policy, moving opposition and building credibility in the national care ecosystem.

As we shift towards competency-based community organizing, especially for organizations who are committed to advancing social justice,  we aim to challenge the status quo for qualifying factors. That being said, To Raise A Village & its Ambassadors stand firm on the following statement:
Our existence is our relevant experience.

Moreover, we value an organization that promotes “For Us, By Us”, as a vantage point.
We know you also hold our previous statement to be self-evident.
We appreciate your acknowledgement and allyship
